Join Mailing List Helpful Links and News Media Press Kit Sponsors Sarasota Youth Sailing Program Hemingway International YC of Cuba Cruising to Cuba Video	Regatta Start - Saturday, May 14, 2011 Mission “To promote ethical behavior among sailors and encourage the teaching of life-long lessons, which seek to build character, teamwork, and strengthen respect for oneself, others, the marine environment and foster good will between the sailing communities of Cuba and the United States of America.” The SYC Sarasota-Havana Regatta will raise funds to support the Sarasota Youth Sailing Program and the Youth Sailing Program of the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba for the purchase of Optimist Sailboats (internationally recognized craft for Youth Sailing Programs) and related equipment and Educational Programs which are designed to encourage young sailors to experience the joy of sailing and to teach the essential elements of boat handling, seamanship, water safety skills and racing in a safe wholesome environment.” It is hoped that this effort will also ultimately foster competitive sailing between the Sarasota Youth Sailing Program, which is supported by the Sarasota Yacht Club, and the Youth Sailing Program of the Hemingway International Yacht Club.
